This country hotel is fantastic with spacious, bright, and clean rooms, a delicious buffet breakfast, friendly and helpful staff, and a great restaurant and bar. It's our go-to place whenever we visit family, and we always look forward to returning.

I ordered cheesy chips, flatbread, and hummus, but they all lacked flavor. The chips were soggy with barely noticeable cheese, and the hummus tasted like blended chickpeas without any seasoning. Although the place is nice and the staff are friendly, I'm not sure I would return for a meal.

We had a Christmas meal for 18 people on the 21st. The staff were lovely, drinks were served quickly, and the food was divine. It's an amazing pub with fantastic food that made our Christmas very special.

It seems like this place was great in the past, but now it requires urgent maintenance. The bathroom was unusable, and the room needed redecoration. The plumbing issues were the worst, as the water would cut out unexpectedly for about 10 minutes. When I informed reception, they just suggested trying again later.

The place is fairly basic, but it's friendly and impeccably clean. There's a great pub downstairs. The menu is short, mostly burgers, but of high quality. The fish and chips and steak options allow you to avoid bread if you prefer. It's a decent choice for a stopover while exploring the area.

I'm new to Calne, so I decided to try this place. I went for a meal on a Saturday night and booked a table, but it turned out the place was nearly empty except for 2 tables. We were seated in a disappointing part of the restaurant. Since the place was empty, we asked to move, but we couldn't eat in the busier courtyard. The menu was very limited, with only 4 main meal options - 2 burgers, fish and chips, 1 steak, and a veggie option. We chose the fish and chips, which was bland. The waitress even asked to take the vinegar bottle when we were done, as if there was only one bottle for the entire restaurant. I doubt I'll be returning for a second visit.

The rooms are acceptable but could use some updating, especially the bathroom. The bed was comfortable. The most disappointing part of our two-night stay during the Calne bike meet was on Saturday when we planned to spend the evening with friends at the Landsdowne pub to catch up and have a few drinks, but we were told the bar was closing at 9pm. When we questioned this as paying guests who hadn't been informed of early closing on Friday, the response was unsatisfactory. It's puzzling why a pub/hotel would close its doors at 9pm on the busiest day of the year in Calne. Many other guests I spoke to were also displeased. It's safe to say we won't be staying at the Lansdowne again, and I suspect others will share the same sentiment.

Located in the heart of Calne, this hotel/pub is a great spot to grab a drink, even though I haven't stayed there. They serve Arkells beer, which is decent.

I had a terrible experience at this place. The walls were cracking, there was dangerous plastic sheeting under the carpet (a huge fire risk), the mattress was extremely uncomfortable, and there was a lack of visible management. The hotel management didn't even bother to respond to my emails and messages, which included photos of issues from my stays in 2023 and 2024. I was eventually able to get a refund through Booking.com, and I will never stay at this place again. I have reported them. I wonder if they will respond to this public 1-star rating.

It's been years since I last visited this place, despite living in town! The beer is good with a decent selection, and it's clear that a lot of money has been invested in the establishment recently.
